Android Application Design Contest 2012

The contest aims to encourage young teenagers who want to learn and demonstrate their talent in app programming, promoting teamwork and the ability of students in computer science and technology.

Lightning Detector Design Competition

5 senior form students were invited to join the Lightning Detector Design Competition organized by the Hong Kong Observatory, the Faculty of Engineering in Hong Kong University and Hong Kong Meteorological Society. The competition aims at enriching students' knowledge in engineering and meteorology. Students are required to submit a working prototype and a proposal on the design and operation of the lightning detector, circuits and software.

Canadian Computing Competition (Hong Kong Contest) 2014
A S.5 students (5C Yim Tak Ming) was invited to join Canadian Computing Competition (HK Contest) 2014 organized by the University of Hong Kong.The competition aims at arousing the interest of computer programming. Student was required to analyze and solve serveral daily-life problems using a computer program.

MindDrive Competition 2014
Four S.3 and three S.1 students were invited to join MindDrive Competition 2014 organized by Department of Computer Science of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). It was a posture-controlled car racing competition. There were about 100 secondary school students from 23 secondary schools in the competition. They had to attend three training workshops in early March, which provided background on the posture detection software, and to assist the participants to design and implement the program and postures to control a remote controlled toy car.They were required to wirte programs and use their body postures to control the movement of the cars. Both teams entered the knockout stage and won 3 awards. (Click here for details)

Geocaching Competition 2014

Four S.5 students were invited to join Geocoaching Competition 2014 organized by Communications Association of Hong Kong (CAHK). It is a treasure hunt competition, which let students apply GPS technologies by entertaining adventure games to enhance their problem solving skills as well as enrich the knowledge of ICT industry.

2014-15

RoboCode Contest 2014 (CityU)
4 senior form students were invited to join CityU-CS Robocode Contest 2014 organized by Department of Computer Science of City University of Hong Kong. The two teams were led by Mr. Leung Wai Man. The competition aims at arousing the interest of secondary school students in computer programming and computer science. Students are required to build a software robot to compete against other robots in a battle arena.
In the competition, a 2-hour workshop has been given to students in the City University of Hong Kong on October 2014. Simple programming concepts have been introduced in the workshops and all of them got a chance to have hand-on experience to build software robots themselves. By using the techniques learnt in the workshop, students are required to think of their own algorithms of their robots and hand-in the products one month later. One team entered the final last 16 stage and got merit in the competition.


Sea Level Measurement Device Design Competition (HKU, HKO)
Four S3 students were invited to join Sea Level Measurement Device Design Competition on from 3rd May 2015 organized by Department of Computer of the University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Observatory. It aimed to enhance participants' understanding of meteorological instrumentation and application of information technology and promote the realization of novel designs and innovative ideas. Students has participated three training workshops in November 2014. They were required to design and implement an automatic sea level measurement device, including hardware and software for feeding data automatically through a computer. And they were required to present their project to the public in the project exhibition.

Computer App Programming Competition 2015 (Hong Kong Poly-U, HKACE)

Seven junior students were invited to join Computer App Programming Competition 2015 on 16th May 2015 organized by Department of Computing of Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Hong Kong Association of Computer Education (HKACE). It aimed at promote mobile app programming to junior form students. Students were required to design and create mobile apps using AppInventor. Four students were selected to participate in the problem-solving competition on CAP day. It was a valuable experience to them to participate such inter-school competition.



iTech Summer Camp 2015 and Mind Drive Competition 2015 (HKBU)
Two S3 students and four S4 students were invited to join iTech Summer Camp 2015 from 3rd to 4th July 2015 organized by Department of Computer of Hong Kong Baptist University. It aimed at preparing a series of exciting activities for our future IT leaders. Students were delighted to learn interesting IT knowledge in our workshops, such as the "Mobile App Development Workshop – Flap by Flap Academy" and the "Natural User Interface Design for Entertainment Workshop". After learning some basic concepts on natural user interface design, students applied what they had learnt in the "Mind Drive Competition". In the competition, students demonstrated their excellent creativity, programming skills and body coordination. 3D Lam Hiu Laam and 4A Pang Chi Lap won the First Prize and 4A TSE Hiu Fung won the First Runner-up Prize in the competition. 2015-16

Web Design Challenge Award 2015 (Web Consortium Education Foundation)
5 junior form students were invited to join Web Design Challenge competition organized by Web Consortium Education Foundation. The team was led by Mr. Wen Hua Yan. The competition aims at making use of web site design and development in promoting art and culture. Students were required to design a web site and implement it on their own by using the web authoring knowledge they learnt. The competition was started from April, 2015 by submission of a design proposal. Then, they spent their time to learnt and built up the web site. Their web authoring skills were improved. They entered the final stage and were invited to have presentation in August, 2015. Eventually, they received Merit among over hundred schools from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and China.

全港中學生辦公室軟件及商業常識比賽2016 (Youth College)
4 S.4 students were invited to join the competition on 30th January 2016 organized by Youth College. It aimed at encouraging students to make use of the office software to tackle some daily life problems. Students were interested in this competition and the questions were highly related to the topics learnt in first term of S.4.

MindDrive Competition 2016 (HKBU)
Three S.3 were invited to join MindDrive Competition 2016 on 2nd April 2016 organized by Department of Computer Science of Hong Kong Baptist University. They were led by Mr. Wen Hua Yan. Scratch Your Learning Competition (CWGC, HKU)
With HKD$50000 funding of Enriched IT Activities Programme (EITAP) from Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, The Government of the HKSAR (OGCIO), a inter-schools Scratch programming competition, co-organized with the department of Computer Science, HKU, was held from 29th June to 9th July 2016. It consisted of a lecturer of game design, three workshops and a public exhibition of students’ project. 18 students from our school and 18 students from other schools were invited to the programme. It aimed at promote game design, encourage Scratch programming and apply game programming in their study. The team of 3D LAU CHAU YEE and 3D LI YI YAN has won the champion of the competition. The team of 3B MA SIU TONG and 3D WONG HOI CHUNG and the team of 2D WAI TSE WING and 2C KWONG YUI ON have won the two merits. It was a remarkable experience for them to participate in such inter-school competition and face the challenge from students of other schools. (Click here for details)

NetRiders Comprtition 2016 (Cisco)
5 S.5 students were invited to participate in the NetRiders Competition 2016 held on 2nd July 2016. They were lad by Mr. Yuen Kwan Hung. It gave a great opportunity for students to showcase their networking abilities, learn valuable new IT skills, and gain visibility among talent recruiters in the growing ICT and networking field. 4 students, 5A Cheung Chin Chun Matthew, 5A Leung Wai Chung, 5A Pang Chi Lap and 5A Tse Hiu Fun entered the second round and were awarded silver metals with the good performance.

2016-17

Earthquake Detector Design Competition (HKU, HKO)
Two S.4 and three S.5 students, 4A WONG HOI CHUNG, 4B MA SIU TONG, 5B LIU KA HO, 5B CHEUNG WAI YU and 5B NG KA MAN, were invited to join Earthquake Detector Design Competition on 6th May 2017 organized by Department of Engineering of the University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Observatory. It aimed to enhance participants' understanding of meteorological instrumentation and application of information technology and promote the realization of novel designs and innovative ideas. Students has participated three training workshops in November 2016. They were required to design and implement an automatic earthquake detector, including hardware and software for feeding data automatically through a computer. And they were required to present their project to the public in the project exhibition. They were awarded the Champion of the senior category. (Click here for details)

Two S.5 students, 5A KWOK MAN HEI and 5B YUEN SIU MAN, were invited to join iTech Summer Camp 2017 from 29th to 30th June 2017 organized by Department of Computer of Hong Kong Baptist University. It aimed at preparing a series of exciting activities for our future IT leaders. Students were delighted to learn interesting IT knowledge in our workshops, such as the "3D modelling and printing”, “interacting computers with body motion”, which are making big impacts on our work and life. After learning some basic concepts on natural user interface design, students applied what they had learnt in the "Mind Drive Competition". In the competition, students demonstrated their excellent creativity, programming skills and body coordination. 5A KWOK Man Hei won the First Runner-up Prize in the competition. “Data Treasure Hunt” Competition (HKBU)
Four S.5 students, 5B CHEUNG WAI CHING, 5B LIU KA HO, 5B CHEUNG WAI YU and 5B NG KA MAN, were invited to join “Data Treasure Hunt” Competition on 6th July 2017 organized by Faculty of Science of Hong Kong Baptist University. It is about data analysis and visualization. It lets students to interact with data, break the data down, find the answers in data and convey your insights from the data to people. Students went for the workshop in March 2017 in HKBU to learn how to do data mining with a suitable tool. They were asked to design and worked on a project on their among related to their daily life. The final product was presented in the exhibition on 6th July 2017.

VR Robotic Challenge 2018 (HKPolyU)
Three S.1 students were join the inter-schools robot competition on 20th January 2018 at Cyberport organized by Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPolyU). They were led by
Mr. Wen Hua Yan. It aims at providing students a great opportunity to learn coding, design using 3D modelling and taste the robotic technology. Students learnt how design the structure of a robot and use programme to control the robot through a series of workshops. Students enjoyed the competition and were motivated to keep modifying their robots to achieve the different targets.

Inter-school Rocket Car Competition (Trumptech Ltd.)
All S.2 students were divided into 3-4 students groups to participate in the inter-school rocket car competition on 21st April 2018 organized by Trumptech Limited. They were led by Mr. Yuen Kwan Hung. Students learnt how to design their own rocket car and tested them during ICT, DT, IS and Chinese History lessons from October 2018. Different students in a group will have different roles in the competition. All students needed to integrate the knowledge they learnt in different subjects in designing the rocket car. They were motivated, learnt how to improve their rocket car themselves and were willing to stay behind after lessons. All the students were glad to have chances to participate in the inter-schools competition and explore the design from other schools.


Ultra-violet Radiation Measurement Device and Application Design Competition (HKU, HKO)
Two S.3 and three S.5 students, 3D CHAN LOK TUNG, 3D SZE YU HUEN, 5A WONG HOI CHUNG, 5B MA SIU TONG and 5B LAU CHUNG SAMG, were invited to join Ultra-violet Radiation Measurement Device and Application Design Competition on 29th April 2018 organized by Department of Engineering of the University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Observatory. It aimed to enhance participants' understanding of meteorological instrumentation and application of information technology and promote the realization of novel designs and innovative ideas. They were required to design and implement an automatic UV radiation measurement device, including hardware and software for feeding data automatically through a computer. And they were required to present their project to the public in the project exhibition. They were awarded the Heywood Young Scientists Award 2018 E-prize, Most Attractive UV Radiation Measurement Device Award and Merit of the senior category. (Click here for details)

Inter-school Solar Car Competition 2018 (CLP)

30 junior level students were invited to join a workshop organized by CLP on 22nd March 2018. They were delighted to learn how to their own solar car in the workshop. Three of them, 2B KAM YIU HEI, 2B LUK KING HIM and 2B CHU CHIN YU, were invited to participate in the competition inter-school Solar Car Competition on 11th May 2018. They were required to assemble their solar car and have races with other schools. They won the champion of the competition with a very fast record.
